How Drug Rehab Works at Vida Nova Recovery

Taking the first step isn't easy, but you don't have to do it alone.

Our 6-week residential alcohol & drug rehab program provides medically supported care, personalized treatment, and compassionate support in a safe and welcoming environment. From detox and counselling to aftercare planning, each stage is designed to help you build a strong foundation for lasting recovery.

Here’s what to expect at Vida Nova Recovery:

1. Detox & Stabilization

Days 1–7

Treatment begins with a safe, medically supported detox and stabilization period. You’re welcomed into a calm, 24-hour supervised environment where physical health, sleep, and nutrition are prioritized while the care team begins building trust and understanding your needs.

2. Assessment & Personalized Treatment Planning

Week 1

At the start of your program, you’ll work closely with counsellors, medical staff, and support workers to create a personalized treatment plan built around your goals, experiences, and strengths.

3.Core Therapeutic Work

Weeks 2-5

You will participate in a structured schedule of programming that includes individual counselling, psychoeducation, group sessions, mindfulness, and other therapeutic activities. Using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches — including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, and dialectical behavioural therapy — you’ll strengthen emotional regulation, coping, and relapse-prevention skills while building connection and accountability with peers.

4. Holistic Healing & Life Balance

Throughout Program

Recovery involves more than clinical treatment alone. Vida Nova supports both mental health and overall wellness through mindfulness, movement, nutrition, outdoor experiences, creative activities, and animal-assisted therapies — helping you build healthy routines that last beyond treatment. Additional holistic options like guided self-hypnosis, the sensory-deprivation float tank, and Reiki can further support relaxation and whole-person healing.

5.Preparing for Life After Treatment

Week 6

As you prepare for discharge, the focus shifts to life beyond treatment. Together with your care team, you’ll build confidence, strengthen your support system, involve family where appropriate, and create a personalized aftercare plan to support your ongoing recovery.

6. Discharge & Follow-Up Support

Aftercare

Recovery continues beyond residential care. You'll be connected to our Transitional Support Specialist for any assistance you might need for reintegration into everyday life. You’ll leave with clear next steps in your aftercare plan, including referrals to outpatient resources, step-down services, recovery groups, and ongoing support from our Outreach Specialist and medical team as needed to help maintain progress and long-term wellbeing.
